Rising Damp is where moisture from the ground rises up from the base of a wall which will cause damage to the walls of your house and must be treated quickly and effectively. Signs of Rising Damp are damage to plaster or painted walls and rotting of skirting boards and wooden floors (known as wet rot).
Once identified Rising Damp can be easily treated with a Damp Proof Course. Dependant on the thickness of the affected area, holes are drilled in the brick / mortar of external and internal walls to a pre-determined depth. These holes are then injected with damp proofing fluid to reduce the movement of water.
After treatment the affected wall will be replastered to remove all of the damaged plaster. Unaffected plaster may be left to see if it dries following the treatment.
